Gang,

Here are two versions of an image from Houston.  Which one do you prefer and why?

 RNS3370 Color 2500Tk

 RNS3370 BW 2500Tk

Appreciate your thoughts.  Thank you!

Cheers!

I like the B&W much better.  First, I do not see much interesting in the color image. Second, the B&W is significantly pleasing in terms of contrast, which separates the tree from the background.

Thanks, @lleonard and @dshelton, for your comments.

I noticed something interesting - when viewing a post with an image, unless you click on the image for the larger size image to be display, the image shown in the body of the post is significantly lighter/low contrast.  To see the image properly, one has to click the image for the larger size.

I very, very seldom shoot color (and I get made fun of for that!) but in this case, I myself prefer the color.  There is something about the color image that evokes a tinge of melancholy for me.  Perhaps because the palette brings back memories 0f monsoon in India, a long time ago...

Cheers!

I like the graphic quality of the black and white but agree with the emotional impact of the colour image.  Recently John Paul Caponigro has been posting about the psychology of colour on his blog.
