I have been on the west coast of Canada since late July.  Below are two images taken in Carmanah Walbran Park on Vancouver Island.  I find woodland photography to be very challenging and it was made more so on a bright sunny day.  Nevertheless the outing among ancient trees was worth the trip.

I like the second image. The lighting and contrasts are lovely.

In the first image, I can't help but wonder if it would have been stronger had the boardwalk end lined up with the bottom corners of the frame.

The west coast of Canada is one of my bucket list places. I hope you have been enjoying the wilderness there.

@dmacauley

Thank you.  I see your point about the boardwalk.

There is magic in the light of #2.

I'll try to learn from your example as I find a way to bring out the beauty of our ancient live oaks and Spanish moss.  Stay tuned.

Ulana - I really like the second, tree-trunk image. The massive trunks in contrast to the mossy limbs and lighter tree branches in the background.

Have you considered ever-so-slightly lightening the trunks and foreground foliage, so we can see a bit more bark detail, etc? The detail is there but I have to squint to make it out.

Cheers,

Char

@cdavies

Thanks for the suggestion.  I had processed this image as a silhouette but will work with your idea.  I imagine when I get back to HK and have a 14 stretch of mandatory quarantine ahead of me there will be alot of reprocessing opportunity.
