Thought I'd share a few images from my hike last Saturday. I haven't been photographing much since the pandemic hit. However, I needed to get out for a bit.

Don't know if you need gear info, but I'm using my ancient, but still fabulous 😎 Canon 50D with a Sigma 150-600 contemporary lens.

Great birds & great light are a great combination!

The second Blue Heron picture is especially nice.

Nice, Donna.  You're setting a good bar for me to aspire to.

1st heron is a better overall composition, while 2nd (as John M. says) is a nicer shot of the bird.

And chipmunks and squirrels are always fun.

Cheers,
lloyd

Thank you @lbloom Although, I think you are already there. 😉 Also, seeing your bird posts inspired me to get back out there. I was missing my birds. 😀 Here's to our bird posts inspiring each other.

I like doing a combination of bird in their environment and bird portrait. It's an interesting thing to photograph birds. I want to create a good composition, maybe get a little artistic, but I also want to treat it as scientific/biological documentation. It might be because I keep nature journals and participate in citizen science programs.

These are all great but the first image is my favorite!!  The lighting on the chipmunk/shading of the trees is a perfect combo 🙂  Very eye catching

Donna, I’m not a wildlife/bird guy but I can see the skill required to make fine images like these.   Beautiful light captured with nice exposures.

My fav is the last image - has a haunting quality to it.  Well done, Donna.  Let’s see more!

cheers!
