Fool Moon 2019
On Friday evening we had the annual Fool Moon celebration in Ann Arbor.
It's an unfettered, unabashed celebration of life. People dress up in funky costumes
and make paper mâché luminaries. Many of these luminaries show considerable effort and ingenuity of construction.
There were belly dancers!
And of course this young lady demonstrating that it is never too early to start...
And of course the Ann Arbor photographic community is very well represented
People really get into the spirit of things
especially when darkness falls and the luminaries come into their own
Even Dr. Who made an appearance!
There is dancing in the streets and a general air of festivity. The organizers even have a website up!
Had a blast and regret missing this event last year. I made a resolution not to miss this event in the future.
It is a lot of fun, @jmotzi! Had a great time. Kicking myself for missing last year, though if I recall correctly, the weather was pretty bad last year.
These are very nice images, and you definitely worked on them. It looks like a great local event.
You would make a great belly dancer! You should join the group so there might be more gender inclusivity.
Thanks for the kind words, Larry. Also, thank you for reminding me to go to the gym more often. I think... 🤣
Great job at capturing a joyous event!
What fun! It is rather obvious a good time was had by all. 🙂 Thank you for sharing this marvelous celebration, Raaj. "
It is a terrific event and one that I intend to not miss in the future. I used to do some Street Phot0graphy a long time ago when I fell in love with rangefinder cameras and was beginning to get the hang of it. Then I got busy and the RFs have been sitting on a shelf for a long time. At this event, the first few frames seemed a bit difficult to shoot but as the evening progressed, some of the old street techniques seemed to happen, so some of the rust brushed off quickly. Also reminded me h0w much I enjoy Street Photography. So many things to shoot, so little time... 😆
